  • How can therapy help me?
Therapy offers a range of benefits, including support, problem-solving skills, and effective coping strategies for challenges like depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, and stress. Through therapy, you can: Gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your goals, and values Improve communication and relationships Develop healthier coping mechanisms for emotional pressures Manage anger, grief, anxiety, and depression Build self-esteem and boost confidence Create new, positive behavior patterns Find solutions to family and marriage challenges The benefits you experience will depend on your commitment to the process and how you apply what you learn.
  • Do I really need therapy?  I can usually handle my problems.
Everyone faces challenges in life, and seeking therapy is a sign of strength and self-awareness. Choosing therapy means taking responsibility for your growth and committing to positive change. It offers lasting benefits by providing tools to overcome challenges, manage triggers, and break unhealthy patterns.
  • Why do people go to therapy and how do I know if it is right for me?
People seek therapy for many reasons, including life transitions, stress, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship issues, and personal growth. Therapy offers encouragement, skill-building, and support for those ready to face challenges and make positive changes in their lives.
  • What is therapy like?
Therapy is tailored to each individual’s needs and goals. Sessions typically involve discussing current events, personal history, and progress. Therapy may be short-term for specific issues or longer-term for deeper personal growth, with regular weekly sessions recommended. Active participation is key to success. Your therapist may suggest activities outside of sessions, such as reading, journaling, or goal-setting, to support your progress.
  • Do you take insurance, and how does that work?"
To find out if your insurance plan includes Mental Behavioral Health Coverage, start by calling your insurance provider directly. Be sure to review your coverage carefully. Here are some helpful questions to ask: What mental health benefits are included in my plan? What is the coverage amount per therapy session? How many therapy sessions are covered each year? What is the reimbursement rate for out-of-network providers? Do I need approval or a referral from my primary care physician? Getting these details will help you make informed decisions about your mental health care.
  • Does what we talk about in therapy remain confidential?
Confidentiality is a vital part of the trust between a client and therapist. What you share in therapy is private and protected under “Informed Consent.” Your therapist cannot release any information without your written permission, except in certain situations required by law: Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, adult, or elder must be reported to authorities. If there is a serious risk of the client harming themselves or others, confidentiality may be broken to ensure safety. Your therapist will provide a written confidentiality agreement, and you can always expect your privacy to be respected.
